Hi there! Thanks for checking out my portfolio site.
I’m Amber, and I write stories about events and lifestyle news across all five CultureMap sites in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth.
Before joining CultureMap, I was a quality assurance auditor for the Google News platform, where I fact-checked and moderated the top 40 national news stories in the United States.
I graduated from Abilene Christian University in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Multimedia. During my time at ACU, I gained a large amount of experience in video and radio production. I was the video director for the university newspaper, The Optimist, for over three years. I was an on-air host and producer for Abilene’s NPR member station, KACU 89.5 FM, for over two years. I have previously worked as the producer and editor for the ACU head football coach’s TV show, The Adam Dorrel Show, for two seasons, and I interned for KUT’s Texas Standard in the summer of 2018.
I was raised in Dripping Springs, also known as the Wedding Capital of Texas, the Gateway to the Hill Country, or Just West of Weird, depending on who you’re talking to.
I love to read in my spare time; I challenge myself to read at least 52 books a year.
